Create a new email alert for an event

Cornerstone Saba provides different alerts to notify users through email notifications.

Prerequisites:

To ensure email alerts work correctly, you must first configure the following notification event:
  • Job Alert Email
To configure the event:
  1. Click System > Configure System > Services > System.
  2. Click the Notifications tab.
  3. Edit Job Alert Email event.
  4. Create a new transmit event action as follows:
    1. Ensure the named query is selected correctly for recipients so it picks up the emails from the alert setup.
    2. Add message body text.
    3. Use the following keywords:
      • System_JobID
      • System_SiteName
      • System_EventName
      • System_JobExecutionState
      • System_AlertType
      • System_ExecutionTime

Steps

To create a new email alert for an event:
  1. Log in to Cornerstone Saba as the "admin" user or a system administrator.
  2. Click System > Monitor Background Jobs > Email Alerts. The Email Alerts page opens.

  3. Click the New Email Alert link. The New Email Alert popup page opens.
  4. Specify the required email alert fields.

    Field Description
    Event

    Select the event name from the list of events. The email alert is triggered for the selected event.

    Alert Type
    Select one or more alert types from the following:
    • SLA
      This alert type is triggered only after job completion - either with success or failure. Currently, SMF does not support runtime monitoring of SLA and triggering the email alert.
      Note: For runtime monitoring and alerts, submit a request. For details, contact support.
    • Job Failed
    • Job Success
    • Job Cancelled
    SLA Time (sec)

    Enter the SLA time in seconds. This field is enabled only if you select the "SLA" option in Alert Type.

    Status
    Select one of the following statuses for the alert:
    • Enabled
    • Disabled
    Email Addresses

    Specify one or more email addresses of the recipients of the alert. Separate each email address with a comma.

  5. Click the Save button. The application saves your changes.
After creating an email alert, you can:
  • Edit an existing event by clicking the alert ID link for an email alert.
  • Delete an existing event by clicking the Delete link for an email alert.
